ARROWHEAD ASSIGNMENT
August 2023 (to be completed by August 31, 2023)
The following is the approach for planting the six arrowheads given to the state of Connecticut in order to complete the final portion of the “Painting Your Borders”/“Commanding the Foreword” national prayer initiative as outlined by Dutch Sheets in the Give Him 15 post on August 22, 2023 and subsequent posts. Please refer to these posts for further context and details.
After much prayer, reflection, revelation and consultation with key leaders, Holy Spirit highlighted six major themes/parameters to help guide the selection of strategic locations where the arrows were to be planted in our state: a) Historical Significance; b) Seven Mountain Significance (e.g. Government, Economic, Religion; Education; Family; Media; Arts) c) Native American Significance; d) Revival Significance; e) Prophetic Significance; f) Geographical Significance. Locations and supporting rationale are as follows:
HARTFORD (arrowhead site: Old State House) Ilona
- Historical Significance:
- First Settlement: Dutch fort which they called “House of Hope” at Dutch Point
- One of first three (founding) settlements: Hartford, Windsor, Wethersfield
- Root connection: First Hartford settlers came from “mother” Massachusetts Bay Colony
- Governmental Significance (Seven Mountains):
- State Capital (seat of CT state government)
- Constitutional Framework: Fundamental Orders first constitution
- Location of historic “Charter Oak”
- Economic Significance (Seven Mountains):
- CT known as the “Resource State” and “Weaponry State”
- Hartford area was a major producer guns and military equipment (e.g. Colt)
- Hartford is known as the insurance capital of the world
- Native American Significance:
- Area inhabited by Saukiog Tribe (Saukiog is also Native American name for Hartford)
- Revival Significance (also Seven Mountains – Religion):
- First Great Awakening: George Whitefield preached in Hartford
- Prophetic Significance:
- Multiple prophecies have been given both from and to the state in Hartford area
- Geographical Significance:
- Center of State (“Heart of Connecticut”)
- Connecticut River runs through it (state namesake and also major river in NE)
- Confluence of key river (Connecticut River) and tributaries (e.g. Park River)
- First founding towns in CT (e.g. Wethersfield, Windsor, Hartford)
NEW HAVEN (arrowhead site: New Haven Green) Patti
- Historical Significance:
- Godly root history – the original town planning of the “Nine Square Plan” was based on the ratio of New Jerusalem measurement in the Book of Revelation with the center being the New Haven Green
- Yale is the first college/university in CT (founded as a seminar). The original public building is in Old Saybrook. The college first met in a home in Killingworth.
- Site of Amistad event; led to positive outcome for African slaves onboard; galvanized abolitionist movement in New England
- Key leaders of the American Revolution were once students at Yale (e.g. Nathan Hale)
- Governmental Significance (Seven Mountains):
- Was a major CT Colony and was considered a capital for a season (along with Hartford)
- New England Alliance/First NE Expanded Governmental Alliance:: Plymouth, MA Bay Colony, Hartford and New Haven
- Important center of abolitionist sentiment during the civil war
- Educational Significance (Seven Mountains):
- Yale University graduates continue to fill high level positions around the world as Presidents, Governmental leaders, scientists, medical/biotech research, etc.
- Native American Significance:
- Area inhabited by the Quinnipiac Tribe (major tribe in CT)
- New Haven was the site of the first Indian Reservation (est. by Puritans in 1638)
- Revival Significance (also Seven Mountains – Religion):
- Yale houses the Jonathan Edwards College; Jonathan Edwards, a Yale graduate, is considered the chief father of the First Great Awakening
- First Great Awakening: (Edwards, Whitefield, Tennant)
- Second Great Awakening: Yale had 3 awakenings during the years of the Second Great Awakening; Timothy Dwight (President of Yale and grandson of Jonathan Edwards) was a key leader in the Second Great Awakening)
- Prophetic Significance:
- Multiple prophecies over New Haven and Yale for future revival
- Prophecies of being a biblical haven city
- Geographical Significance:
- Strategic harbor/port city
- Confluence of multiple rivers (Naugatuck, Quinnipiac, Wepawaug)
- Towns in New Haven County represent founding towns in CT (e.g “the Havens”
OLD SAYBROOK/MOUTH OF CONNECTICUT RIVER (arrowhead site: Old Saybrook Fort/Pt)
- Revolutionary War hotbed: Old Saybrook and Old Lyme
- Governmental Significance (Seven Mountains):
- Old Saybrook land was purchased as an exile community for Cromwellians of England in exile if needed during the Protestant vs Catholic 100 years war in England as a result of the Protestant Reformation
- Settlement was huge tract of land that was eventually broken up into other colonies.
- Native American Significance:
- Beginning of Pequot War began at the fort at Old Saybrook Point over loyalty split between the Pequot and Mashuntucket tribes a Native American was killed by a MA Colonist. This affected 5, 6 + towns and led to the Mystic Massacre, the first massacre of the Native Americans where the colonist massacred the Pequots including women and children.
- Revival Significance (also Seven Mountains – Religion):
- First Great Awakening: Many towns significantly impacted in area
- Prophetic Significance:
- Many prophecies as well as angelic sightings
- Geographic Significance:
- Mouth of CT River where it flows into the Long Island Sound
- The CT River headwaters are in Canada and flows down through the border of VT & NY,
through western MA and through CT.
NEW LONDON/GROTON (arrowhead site: Fort Trumbull, New London)
- Historical Significance:
- Shipbuilding, Trade (including slave), whaling hub
- Griswold Fort: Massacre of Revolutionary Soldiers by English due to the actions in traitor Benedict Arnold
- New London burned to the ground
- Governmental Significance (Seven Mountains):
- Military: Site of Coast Guard Academy, US Navy Submarine Base
- Economic Significance (Seven Mountains):
- General Dynamics/Electric Boat including defense manufacturing hubs:
- Native American Significance:
- New London was home of three significant Indian tribes: Mohegans, Pequot, Mashuntucket
- Revival Significance (also Seven Mountains – Religion):
- First Great Awakening: highest density of ‘New Light’ towns/churches/harvest in CT
- Prophetic Significance:
- Dream/angelic encounter: caught up in a whirlwind by the Spirit as standing on the edge of the Thames River at Fort Trumbull. Mantles fell and swirled around me. Heard the Lord’s audible voice announce “Prophecy Revival Mantle” (JL)
- Glory train dream roaring down the rr tracks into CT (New London/Groton area). The fields of wheat were ripe for harvest (JL)
- Chuck Pierce in RI saw in the Spirit the Revival beginning in New London/Groton.
- Chuck Pierce saw a huge harvest in this area and in CT
- Multiple visions, dreams and angles of Revival breaking out in New London (JL)
- Geographical Significance:
- Mouth of the Thames River, major strategic river in CT, New London major military port
ENFIELD (arrowhead site: Church where Jonathan Edwards preached famous sermon) Jenna
- Historical Significance:
- Founded with land grant from Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1674
- Seceded from MA in 1650 and chose to became part of CT
- Economic Significance (Seven Mountains):
- Huge player in the early manufacture of gunpowder in the nation
- Native American Significance:
- Area inhabited by the Podunk tribe
- Revival Significance (also Seven Mountains – Religion):
- First Great Awakening
- Location where Jonathan Edwards preached famous revival inspiring sermon “Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God”
- Memorial Stone and parking lot where church was located
- Revival birthed freedom, courage and truth: gave rise to Declaration of Independence to American Revolution that birthed US Constitution
- Prophetic Significance
- Thousands have visited this site and received visions, angelic encounters, wailing intercession, prophetic words, caught up, etc. Very supernatural site.
- First Great Awakening
WESTPORT (arrowhead site: Minuteman statue near Compo Beach) Fran
- Historical Significance
- In a predominantly Tory section of the colony, the people of Fairfield were early supporters of the cause for independence.
- Throughout Revolutionary war, a constant battle was being fought across the Long Island Sound as Loyalists from British-controlled Long Island raided the coast in whaleboats and privateers. Gold Selleck Silliman whose home still stands on Jennings Road, was put in charge of the coastal defenses.
- Governmental Significance (Seven Mountains):
- Roger Ludlow (framer of the Fundamental Orders) founded Fairfield, CT. Westport was a new colony established from the original Fairfield land.
- Economic Significance (Seven Mountains):
- Town of Westport (which stemmed from Fairfield) is the home of Bridgewater, largest hedge fund in the world.
- Fairfield County is known as the hedge fund capital of the world.
- Native American Significance:
- Early in 1639, the General Court granted a commission to Ludlow to begin a plantation at Pequannocke
- The early Paugussett tribes lived in small communities and villages around the area now called Fairfield (source: Fairfield Museum and History Center)
- Historians have cited that Ludlowe stole a large tract of land from the Pequannocke sachems and later greatly enlarged the territory by other purchases to the westward (Unquowa)
- He collaborated on this with a few others from Windsor and afterwards was joined by immigrants from Watertown and Concord
- Final battle of Pequot war, was fought in a swamp in what is now Southport (between Fairfield & Westport (source: Fairfield Museum & History Center
- Town of Fairfield was originally called Unquowa (Native American name)
- Revival Significance (also Seven Mountains):
- Second Great Awakening:
- Fairfield and other surrounding towns in Fairfield County deeply impacted by “circuit rider minsters of Second Great Awakening
- Jesse Lee (famous Methodist circuit rider) established multiple churches in Fairfield and surrounding areas (e.g. Easton) during Second Great Awakening
- Geographical Significance:
- Fairfield was one of the two principal settlements of the Connecticut Colony in southwestern Connecticut (the other was Stratford)
- Gave rise to several other important towns in the area (Redding, Bridgeport, Westport, Easton and Weston)
