We are seers/watchmen/prophets, prayer warriors, intercessors, saints functioning within our particular destiny, calling, assignment and inheritance. We know who Christ is in us. We die to self. We live and move and have our being in Him. We are obedient, like Jesus, to do what we see and hear the Father doing. Obedience is greater than sacrifice…right?
To Saul Samuel said, “Has the LORD as much delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed than the fat of rams. “For rebellion is as the sin of divination, And insubordination is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, He has also rejected you from being king.” 1 Sam 15:22, 23
Yes, we are still going through layers of dying to self. Being crucified with Christ? I sure would not want to be crucified without Christ. When we are crucified with Jesus, we know that we are also being resurrected with Him with that same power in us that raised Jesus from the dead. We are seated with Jesus in the heavenly places with the Father. Christ in us the hope of Glory.
How many of us think and feel that we are obedient to God’s Word, both the logos and rhema word of the Spirit? And are obedient, in unity and in alignment with His plumb line from heaven? We like to think we are. But how many of us would run naked down the beach with a huge white banner being obedient to God’s Word? Or lie first on your left side for 390 days bearing the iniquity of the Blue northeast states and west coast states of the US and then lie on the right side for 40 days bearing the iniquity of the red southern and mid-western states of the US?
Would we obey the word of the Lord if He said, “marry a wife/husband of whoredom and bear children of whoredom: “for the land has committed great whoredom, departing from the Lord’?” Or would we continue to be followers of Jesus as Lights, sons of God and the Bridal Company army during the end time’s wrath? Or display the seal of Christ on our foreheads, refusing the mark of the beast? Knowing we cannot buy or sell as we have refused the chip implant that contains all our personal data, health information, banking and financial trading data that is tracking our every move?
Isaiah ran naked, Ezekiel bore the iniquities of the divided nations of Israel, Hosea married Gomer, the prostitute and conceived three children of whoredom. We have yet to see how the end times of John, the Revelator unfolds. Theories abound. These men of God were Prophets, Seers, Watchmen as was Jesus-Priest, King, Prophet.
It is important to understand that ALL God’s saints are called to pray. We are all intercessors. Every saint is called to pray, to be an intercessor. Actually the word intercessor is only found twice in the Bible, one of which refers to Jesus, our Chief Intercessor after the Order of Melchizedek forever making intercession on our behalf. Every intercessor standing in the gap, like every saint, also has gifts, mantles, a destiny and inheritance. Praying, interceding and warring with His word, prophecy shuts and opens doors that bring us, churches, the land and nations into our God given destiny and inheritance. Those who are called intercessors are being obedient and faithful to pray, decree, prophesy and do what the Father is saying and doing. Like Jesus. There is no label, calling, fivefold or gift in the Bible of intercessor. Prayer, prophecy, decrees, commands and intercession does bring forth healing, deliverance, prophesy, atmosphere shifts, the glory, miracles, open heavens, revelation, words of knowledge! Jesus called His house a House of Prayer.
Martha Lucia in her book, The Watchman, says: “all watchmen are intercessors; not all intercessors are watchmen.” This book helped clarify for me the calling of the watchman prophet: the marrying of the revelatory glory realm of seeing, hearing, smelling, feeling and tasting in the Spirit combined with saying/speaking, being His voice in prayer, commands & prophesy. The sound and light waves of His Word echoes and reverberates inward and outward shaking the very quantum essence of the Kingdom of darkness with such power and authority that His light and His sound, His Word spoken through us demolishes darkness and restructures the very essence of what was into what will be in alignment with what the Father is doing in heaven. Watchmen Prophets see/hear, obey, pray/declare/prophesy and “GO”. Again we are all called to pray. We decree/prophesy what we see/hear. Our Lord calls and commissions the fivefold of Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Pastor, Teacher. Each of these will see and hear and pray differently depending on personal destiny and in agreement with what the Father is communing to each one. We are all uniquely different.
We are all called to pray and we each need to pray like Jesus taught us: Thy Kingdom Come, Thy Will Be Done, On Earth as it is in Heaven. Each one of the five fold, each one with gifts in various areas, brings heaven to earth through prayer, song, art, writing, worship, dance, prophesy, decrees. Whether it is a pastor crying out the Father’s heart for the flock; or the evangelist in the street who has a word of knowledge for the woman in the brown hat sitting on the park bench; or the Teacher praying for God’s word and revelation to set his class on fire with the living Word; or the Apostle, seeing and hearing that he is being sent to plant another church, who is praying for strategy; or the Prophet who has seen and/or heard about what will be happening in his region, church, state or nation and is prophesying and praying into that vision to bring the manifestation of it forth in God’s perfect time and in His perfect way; or a Watchman Prophet who has seen a warning for New York City and is mobilizing strategic prayer to defeat the enemy; we are all praying in agreement with what the Lord shows and speaks confirmed by His scriptures and His ways. Each of our obedient prayers is an important part of the whole of God’s plan. An evangelist prays differently than a pastor. A watchman prays differently than both them. Our focus here at Kingdom Watchmen is the function and process of the Watchman Seer Prophet.
DEFINITION & PROCESS OF THE WATCHMEN
See . Hear . Say
Watchmen hear/see (any of our five natural senses operate in the Spirit realm… “eyes to see, ears to hear”) from God, the Father & Creator from and into the heavenly realms. Our Father & Creator lives in the eternal realm. He has no time limits. He takes our Spirit up into heaven with Him. He puts us into different time periods and different places in/on the time line of earth. He shows us pictures and speaks to us in His words and thoughts about certain happenings on His time line for us to co-partner with Him and his divine purposes. We may find ourselves in the past, present or future with a word of knowledge, prophesy, wisdom and/or understanding for both personal and/or generational healing. (Dream examples: Robin Hood days, family generational healing pipes, contraptions to travel in). We see, hear and interact experiential in another dimension accessed by the friendship of communion with and in the triune God. It is a little like a close friend showing us pictures and movies of an event in the past or describing how she sees her daughter’s wedding day.
Watchmen Prophets see warnings and restoration for individuals, churches, communities, cities, regions, states, nations, universe, multiverse, galaxies (yes, some are called to outer space). Then we say; we are His Voice. Watchmen Prophets are represented by Ezekiel, Jeremiah, etc. in the OT; like Jesus & John the Revelator in the NT. We see, hear and experience what most would consider weird things in the Spirit Glory realm. Remember we are made in the image of God; Jesus is our high standard; the kingdom of God is within. Jesus was Chief Intercessor, Lord of Hosts (Warrior), Priest, King and Prophet. We, watchmen, function as intercessors, warriors, priests, kings and prophets after the order of Melchizidek.
Record/Log
What do you do with what is seen? First, write it down. Just the facts as you heard and saw. Do not add to it and do not take things out. I will stand on my guard post And station myself on the rampart; And I will keep watch to see what He will speak to me, And how I may reply when I am reproved Then the LORD answered me and said, “Record the vision And inscribe it on tablets, That the one who reads it may run “For the vision is yet for the appointed time; It hastens toward the goal and it will not fail. Though it tarries, wait for it; For it will certainly come, it will not delay. Hab 2:1-3.
- Write it down
- So a herald may run with it…(warn; mobilizing prayer)
- Wait for it …. (God fulfills His word)
Many revelatory encounters, dreams and visions are not fulfilled for years. Many OT prophesies spoke to the coming Messiah, Jesus Christ. Some of them were spoken hundreds and thousands of years before the birth of Christ. Sometimes it takes years before a prophecy takes place. Revelatory encounters I received over 10 years ago are just now unfolding here on earth. Some prophecies happen immediately, the next day, in a week, years, decades, centuries.
Understanding, Meaning, Interpretation
For understanding you again seek God, like Jesus going off to pray, intercede, contemplate, be in His Presence, and commune with Father God. This is a contemplative process that also includes Biblical research, historical research and current research. It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honor of kings [is] to search out a matter. Proverbs 25:2. Next summarize the essence of the spiritual encounter in 3 to 7 sentences. This truly takes discipline and practice. I have had 3 to 4 type written pages that I learned over time to summarize in one to 7 sentences. Then I was able to make it one bullet point.
The ‘GO’ of God: Action . Will . Application
Finally what action is called for? What is the application? Now what? The action and application is the prayer strategy and action that comes out of interpretation and understanding of the revelatory encounter. We have heard and seen, logged it, and have some meaning and understanding of the revelation. What do we do with it? Again, we seek the Lord. Pray into it! Commune with God. Is it a warning? If so for whom? Is it for now? Or a set time in the future? Write down what you sense the Lord is saying. As you write, research, pray, ponder; the Lord will reveal more to you. God’s heart given through seeing, hearing is now ready for the action step. This is His Will being accomplished. His Word going forth. His Word does not fall void; He performs His Word. Take an action that positions you for it come forth.
Governmental Apostolic Prophetic Heaven to Earth Prayer
Apostolic prophetic prayers carry authority in the form of decrees, declarations, proclamations and prophesy ““Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee; And light shall shine upon thy ways.” Job 22:28
Craft prayers, decrees, prophesy, declarations using pertinent scriptures. If there is a warning we pray like Abraham who prayed to spare a city, Sodom, for righteousness and His name sake. We cry out for mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment. It does not mean God will not allow what you have seen to happen. When we pray God hears; it lessens any judgments/discipline. We decree His Light to expose and annihilate the enemy’s plans. Not all warnings are the enemy. God does discipline, correct and call us back into His ways. After all God throughout the Bible delivered and sanctified His people out of sin, idolatry, broken covenants, shed blood. God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. Remember, unsanctified mercy is playing God and interfering with what God is doing. We must honor and respect free will just our Lord does. Then we declare and prophesy God’s redemptive plan for transformation and restoration.
Confirmation
Scriptural Biblical confirmation is essential. The symbols and environment will not line up literally, as we are living in a different time period. However, God’s true revelation and encounters will line up with Biblical interpretation principals of the ways and character of God. Confirmation from our leaders and accountability partners is most important. Present a clear, simple summary to your watchmen leader and/or another confidential partner for confirmation. Build relationship with those who understand the prophetic aspects of the watchmen. Chuck Pierce has prophesied that last year was the first year of the Watchmen decade. There are many pastors and leaders who do not function in a watchman role and are not familiar with it. Take into account that they are not interested in listening to 2 pages of a dream or vision or encounter they do not necessarily understand. We must always submit to our church leadership. What I am saying is that it is better to gain understanding and interpretation through the above process. Once the revelation is summarized with an accompanying prayer, declaration and/or prophesies, then take it to your church leadership if it pertains to the church or saints. It may be something that is prayed into in your prayer group. This process and action plan `is more than the prayer aspects we have been taught as intercessors. This strategy brings forth apostolic/kingly prophetic/priestly heaven to earth prayer. Be open & stay in the Spirit. Our opinions are self-fed, soulish and are meaningless. What is God saying? What is God’s redemptive plan? We must have His perspective. Agree with God and a trusted prayer partner on an action plan. Do you share with your intercessory prayer group and pray into it? What is the timing? Does another person in your group have another piece of the puzzle? Is it something pastor/church leaders need to know? Is it for a region, people group, state, country, galaxy? It is always for prayer, but there may be leaders who also need to confirm, weigh, and strategize to be part of a larger group or team. Do we go out to a specific site? Remember the other 5 fold of apostle, teacher, evangelist, and pastor do not have the time and are not interested in the whole process. The Lord gave us the revelation. We are responsible for unpacking it so the meaning is understandable and the action flows with wisdom from the message. Keep it simple and short. How does it apply to the leader’s responsibility and function? We live in a society of bullet points and texts. If we can ‘see’ it, ‘hear’ it then we are responsible to be obedient to what the Father has spoken or shown. We can have victory over it; we can prophesy the reformation. We need to work as a team with apostolic oversight to mobilize prayer into the revelation and around it.
Intercessors who are watchmen have not been taught to speak and or say what they have seen. Or even to release it. However, as Chuck Pierce has said: “when you SAY you are stepping into the function of a prophet. We need to function in both prophetic streams and roles: the seer/visionary and communicating/bubbling up role of both types of prophets. We need to learn to say”. We have a God given VOICE; we are His VOICE. Here. On earth. His Voice trumpets. Speak up watchmen saints. It is important for us to step up, learn, and be God’s Voice when He instructs us to. We are just the messenger. The message is delivered in accordance with God’s plan to the appropriate leader. That leader has a team to bring about any necessary actions. This is the reason for the Watchmen Stream of the Kingdom Watchmen and for worship and prayer gatherings.
These meetings are where we can be a VOICE. And practice in a safe place. As we practice, this process becomes a way of living life prophetically in unceasing prayer. What we practice intentionally becomes who we are. The process then flows spontaneously.
Function of the Watchmen
Often watchmen speak words of woe, lamentation, mourning as in Ez 2:9 where Ezekiel is told by God to eat the Scroll. These words are for edification…edification builds, establishes, uplifts, enlightens, informs, instructs, Words of warning do bring instruction and enlightenment that relate to the moral and religious foundations of a nation!! Exhort is to urge strongly, give warning or advice, make urgent appeal. As sons & daughters of Issachar we are to carry the anointing of knowing the times and seasons, understanding the times of warnings, refreshing and times of restoration.
Chuck Pierce, Bill Hamon, Cindy Jacobs, Sheryl Price, Jim Goll, Martha Lucia are today’s examples of this type of Watchmen prophets, who hear the voice of God, declare His divine purposes and bring a word of warning to those not aligned with God’s plans. Rees Howells was a watchman in the early 1900’s, during the Wales revival and during WWII mobilizing prayer for Great Britain and the Allies that brought victory to them in the battles that the watchmen foresaw in the Spirit. The watchman prophets function to bring preservation, salvation, redemption, repentance, transformation and restoration to those who will heed the warnings. A warning reveals something negative that could happen… it is encouraging the need for change. Watchmen prefer that the word they speak does not come to pass…when the warning is heeded, judgment or evil is avoided. Like Jonah.
Martha Lucia wrote in her book, The Watchmen: “The weapons and strategies of the Christian watchmen of the Lord are spiritual and beyond the natural realm for they operate in the realm of the supernatural…but God in His infinite wisdom does not have a limited definition of the prophet. He is constantly revealing new dimensions of all His gifts. The watchmen is simply a different facet of the prophetic ministry”
Just as the Lord is restoring the apostolic, the prophetic and the saints who are trained and equipped to do the greater works, to fulfill God’s plan, He is also restoring the Ezekiel & John the Revelator watchmen. We are called to help the saints and the church to walk through, walk around, and walk over some of the mine fields of the Book of Revelation. We co-partner and reign with the Lord to bring in His great harvest and rule with Him in the millennium.
In Scripture
Prophetic revelation is always based on the Word of God. Watchman is mentioned 19 times in 16 verses in the OT; once in one translation in NT. In the OT historical books kings of nations and rulers of cities appointed watchmen to lookout for occurrences in the natural. The watchmen sees here on earth, in the natural earthly here and now as in watchmen set on a tower. 1 Sam 14:16; 2 Sam 13:34; 18:24. Most of the teachings we learned in various prayer books and teachings use these scriptures to define the watchmen role. First mention of watchmen is found in 2 Sam 18:24. The watchman is up on roof over the gate of the wall and looked.
The OT prophetic books changed that. Ezekiel, the Prophet sees and hears in the spirit. He experiences parousia, being raptured, being taken up by the Spirit of God. Ezekiel has incredible supernatural encounters. This is not in the natural; it is supernatural in the unseen realm. The word metaphysical was used of prophets, who like watchmen declare future events as being divinely revealed to them by visions. Isaiah 21; Jer 6:17; Ez 3:17; Hab 2:1; Job 15:22; Micah 7:4. Isaiah through Malachi are examples of watchmen prophets who kept a lookout over a people and/or a nation; the watchman was set in place by GOD, not the king, to see and hear in the spiritual realm. Isaiah 21:6, ‘For thus has the Lord said to me: Go, set a watchman, let him declare what he sees.’
The Scriptures define our authority for determining the job description of the prophet. Taking the classic watchman passage from Ezekiel 33:7, “So thou, O son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me, we see only God’s hand: “I have set thee a watchman.” Prophets are not self-appointed. Prophets are not called by a denomination or installed by men. Prophets do not receive a prophetic ministry through the laying on of hands by another prophet (but it certainly may be confirmed by another prophet; that is not the same thing). One does not decide to become a prophet; neither may one volunteer their services to be a prophet. God reserves the right to set His own watchmen, and this He will do according to His will, and according to His timing. We do not know why He chooses the ones He chooses. It is a work of grace. Many prophets are selected from birth or from childhood. John the Baptist was filled with the Spirit within his mother’s womb. We dare not intrude into this holy work by setting up our own prophets or stepping into a place that God has not put us. It is Gods Hand, and no other.
“Unto the house of Israel.” The prophet speaks primarily to Gods people, the house of Israel. The New Testament church is the spiritual Israel of God (Galatians 3:39; 4:21-31). Watchmen do not speak to the world at large, casting their pearls before swine. They are called to exhort, edify, rebuke, and build the Church of God, building upon the foundation that is laid already in Christ.
The prophet does not usually bring a one size fits all generic sort of message that speaks to the universe. It is typically a surgical strike, directed and honed to penetrate a particular thing in the Body of Christ, with Spirit-led precision that cuts through the formalities and niceties to get to the guts of the task at hand. The very nature of the message cuts to the quick and makes some gnash their teeth. Even so, God has set Watchman in the Church for its own edification, comfort, and protection.
In the NT there is one passage where watchman appears in one translation in John 10:1-6. “I tell you the truth, the man who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber. The man who enters by the gate is the shepherd of his sheep. The watchman opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice. But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger’s voice.”
In John 10:5-10 Jesus defines Himself as the gate. Jesus used this figure of speech, but they did not understand what he was telling them. Therefore Jesus said again, “I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep. All who ever came before me were thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. He will come in and go out, and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
The Watchmen, Kingdom Watchmen, open the gate for Him, Jesus Christ, the Shepherd, who is the gate. We shut the door to the thieves and robbers. (Dream Philadelphia church) The sheep listen to His voice; we, the saints, hear His voice. This man, Jesus that the Watchman opens the gate for leads the sheep out, they follow Him, because they know His voice. Kingdom Watchmen point to Jesus, His way, the narrow path.
Hebrew Words for Watch
Tsaphah: lean forward, peer into the distance, to observe, await – behold, espy, look up, Keep the watch
Shamar: hedge about (as with thorns), guard, protect, attend to, beware, and be circumspect,
Take heed, keep, mark, look narrowly, observe, preserve, regard, reserve, save, sure, (that lay) wait (for), watch (man).
Natsar: guard, in a good sense or a bad one (to conceal): besieged, hidden thing, keep, monument, observe, preserve, watcher (man)
A commentary clarifies an overall meaning from these words: “As the watchman peers into the distance, receiving forewarning from God, he speaks forth the word that can bring preservation, change, protection and strategy. The words spoken reveal hidden things, which God is disclosing so that we the church, the saints, can be victorious overcomers and redeem kairos time.
Examples: The Watchman may be a “hedge of protection/shamar” around a ministry protecting it from sheep in wolves’ clothing and deception. A spirit is revealed. Watchmen and intercessors intercede and bind the effects of the spirit.
In 2 Kings: people built high places, monuments, natsar using the watchmen tower to pervert the purpose of the watchmen. It becomes a place where secret things against God were done. Charismatic witchcraft is an example of perverting the purpose of the watchmen. Monuments/natsar can be used against God. In Is 65 a monument “marries” the place where it is placed. If an evil spirit is connected with it, it can become tangled in the land and a ruling force over a people, territory, a government or nation. We need to research the root and war over it.
The watchman observes and communicates the observation. What is seen and spoken becomes a guard or protection for those who hear it. God, Himself, is a watchman: He watches over His Word to perform it…He watches over all creation, the heavens, the earth and under the earth… He watches over Israel. God functions in every gift that He has given the church.
Jesus as Watchman
Jesus gave warnings to cities in which miracles were not accepted, scribes and Pharisees for shutting off kingdom of heaven to men, lament and woe over Jerusalem, words of warning to Peter. Jesus spoke words of warning through John to the seven churches and throughout the Book of Revelation. Matthew 24 speaks of signs at the end of the age; wars and rumors of war; false Christ’s.
Joel & Peter in Acts 2:17-21, Joel 2:28-32 speaks to wonders in heaven and signs in earth….blood, fire, smoke and darkness. The signs will be spoken from visions and dreams. Jesus purpose as a watchman is “whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Dr.Bill Hamon has written: “Jesus gave prophets to the Church, and they have all the rights and privileges of the Old Covenant and more. Be careful then how you live, not as unwise people but as wise, making the most of the time, because the days are evil. So do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. Eph 5:15. Part of the awakening that is here is to recognize that the days are evil and we need to understand how to join God in His plan of redemption which includes buying back all the enemy has stolen as a result of sin and to preserve.
Purpose of the Watchman Prophet Ministry
Ezek 33:1-9: The word of the LORD came to me: “Son of man, speak to your countrymen and say to them: ‘When I bring the sword against a land, and the people of the land choose one of their men and make him their watchman, and he sees the sword coming against the land and blows the trumpet to warn the people, then if anyone hears the trumpet but does not take warning and the sword comes and takes his life, his blood will be on his own head. Since he heard the sound of the trumpet but did not take warning, his blood will be on his own head. If he had taken warning, he would have saved himself. But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet to warn the people and the sword comes and takes the life of one of them, that man will be taken away because of his sin, but I will hold the watchman accountable for his blood.’ “Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; so hear the word I speak and give them warning from me. When I say to the wicked, ‘O wicked man, you will surely die,’ and you do not speak out to dissuade him from his ways, that wicked man will die for his sin, and I will hold you accountable for his blood. But if you do warn the wicked man to turn from his ways and he does not do so, he will die for his sin, but you will have saved yourself.
If God gave OT watchmen prophets to warn His people, will He not put Watchmen prophets in place during the end times revealed in revelation. In Matthew 24 we are told to know the times and seasons, to be alert, ready. Warning is part of that and in scripture restoration follows. The need for warning has not decreased… Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever.
Results of the Watchmen Prophet Ministry
The watchmen prophet ministry reflects God’s love. He is a just God and there comes a time when sin must be judged. This brings change, redemption and favor with God through reconciliation and restoration. The Book of Jonah is an example. Jonah, reluctant Watchmen, spoke eight words that delivered a whole city. These words changed the course of the enemy and brought forth the plans, destiny and purpose of God. The leader of the city responded and obeyed.
God uses the watchmen prophets to mobilize prayer, to call out and cry out to those who will fervently pray and declare the victory of God and the redemption of the land.
(Example: Dreams of horn/trumpets lying on the ground, half buried in the sand. That was a warning!! Watchmen ministry is buried; we need to pick up our horns. Also dream re name change to Cornelia, Horn)
The purpose and result of the watchmen prophets ministry is the restoration and redemption of God’s heavens and earth and all that is in it. Matt 18:14 “In the same way your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should be lost.”
Watchmen Prophet’s Sphere of Influence
The Lord usually specifies boundaries and borders to Watchmen. God designates a geographical area of land, a nation, a state, a city, a denomination, a church, a people group. He can give you a small boundary for training and testing and then expand it as you mature.
Some of the watchmen’s area of influence would include keys of the Kingdom; the House of the Lord, church; cities; land; regions/territories; states; nations; continents; Israel; business; one or more of the seven mountains; heavens; universe; multiverse; galaxies; anything that is on God’s heart like man messing with our DNA. And yes, God has assigned watchmen and others to galaxies. The Lord can and often gives assignments within or outside boundaries for a season.
Presentation of Warnings
New Testament Model: the seven churches of Revelation 2 & 3 first speak to the churches about the godly, good obedient things they are doing. Then the revelation of Jesus communicates the warning and necessary correction and/or repentance. Jesus speaks truth with love to these churches. For those who are obedient and overcome there is a great promise. We learn to communicate what we are seeing and hearing in a loving and understanding way. It is ALL about LOVE. Speak truth in love. We are to communicate in a clear and concise way that brings: first, love and commendation; second, a warning; and correction and a promise.
First Things First
Keep your focus on the Lord, not on the experience. The triune God, Father, Son, Holy Spirit is the one who speaks and shows you these things. Hearing from the Lord is a gift whether it is prophesy, words of knowledge, or revelation through dreams, visions, angelic encounters and experiences. It is no different than in the natural. If you are given a talent, a gift, say as a mathematician or musician or writer or business, you continue to pursue knowledge, understanding and experience. Love, prayer and obedience are KEY. Having a vision or dream or revelation is meaningless, if you do not learn to understand, interpret it, pray/prophesy into it, seek God’s strategy and apply it in either both prayer and action.
Most importantly enjoy the journey. It is an exciting adventure in the Spirit as we continue to watch, look and see the supernatural unseen acts of God unfold and manifest through the process of prayer, contemplation, strategies, proclamations, prophecies, break through, victories, transformation and reformation. Like Ezekiel the Lord makes our foreheads like steel. We are able to bear the burden of some of the things we see that come to pass. We know that God is in and behind everything. And that He is a good God who loves us. “We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28. Come up here. Stay in Him. We live and move and have our being in Him. The Joy of the Lord is our strength. We do learn to be in the Spirit and on earth at the same time. It is the double awareness of heaven to earth here and now. In this season we could call it double tasking of and in the Spirit. God always wins.
Summary
There is a lot more teaching/training & equipping that we can do on the watchmen, dreams & visions, understanding their meaning, strategy and action. It is really important to know the area of intercession that you are called to. If you do not know ask the Lord. You hear, you see, the Lord will show you. You will know. In the beginning sometimes the only thing we know is how God is touching our hearts. When the Lord assigns, he gives you His love and compassion for each assignment or geographical area.
Our vision and understanding of the watchman prophet function in the body is being expanded and restored. The body functions better and moves into unity as each one of us comes to understand who God formed us to be. It is like David who did not wear Saul’s armor, we are to wear the clothes that God gave us, not wear someone else’s and/or try to function in roles the Lord has not blessed us with.
WATCHMEN PROPHECIES
Chuck Pierce at Glory of Zion, 2011
This is the first year of the Watchmen decade.
Chuck Pierce over Bill Hamon & Christian International Ministries, Watchmen Conference 2008
“Now I will cause a mantle to rest here so you can see into a new dimension. Eyes and ears open to see the provision; a sacrificing people who will sacrifice in a new way. The mantle in this place has shifted, and what needs to be seen for the next seven years is now activated. I will re-direct their steps into places they could not get into, and from those places they will say, ‘Look around you.’ The mantle over the prophets is now shifting. I couldn’t do this in just any place. The new mantle for the watchman is coming into place. It’s not a mantle we have known fully. For the next eight years we must wear it.
God is looking for His watchmen prophets to arise and see into the dimension that will produce change for the future. An atmosphere filled with that anointing. It will cause people to come to this place. A new anointing is being activated. Heavenly alignment is taking place. The church structure of CI is beginning to change in new ways.”
John Mark Pool: “Pressing toward God’s Goal!” Jan 28, 2009
“I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians3:14(emphasis added)
Many have heard this familiar Scripture rightly used for encouragement for us to finish the race and get the prize in Heaven. However, the Apostle Paul used a word for “mark” that is worth reviewing. The Hebrew Word, skopos, is derived from the ancient languages, which interprets this word as meaning “watching skeptically and looking very carefully.”
Yes, skopos does incorporate the meaning of a “marker” or goal set before us, but together both meanings combined gives us a better understanding of what I feel Paul was offering us: “Watch and pray as you proceed to your goal!” We must now be observant in the spiritual realm as never before. That means we must abandon the “cerebral” (carnal mind) for the “spiritual,” pressing in to God’s heart.
If you want something you have never had in your walk with God, you will have to do something you have never done to get there! Watch and Pray!
“Keep watching and praying that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Matthew 26:41
This is a Greek word, gregoreuo (pronounced: gray-gor-yoo’-o), which means to keep awake, to be vigilant, to be watchful, and to be alert. Although skopos and gregoreuo are two different words for “watch,” it carries the same connotation to be very wary, prepared and alert so you can “dig in” and let nothing come between you and the goal of the High Calling of God.
Consequently, the parable of the ten virgins in Matthew 25 speaks about us being very watchful and prepared for a long night season! Oh yes, and remember that He is coming back for His spotless Bride, and no one knows the time, but we have equal time to be vigilant, sober, on guard and watching! Remember, Christ’s parable ended with: “Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh” (Matthew 25:13).
Also, Paul places a reminder that in watching, in pressing toward that goal, in praying to keep ourselves wary of the wiles of the enemy, we are becoming hyper-focused in order that we may be rewarded in the end with a prize for completing the high calling of God – through Jesus Christ! There is a key to watching and praying – Jesus Christ – the Author and the Finisher of our faith!
“Looking unto Jesus the Author and Finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before Him endured the Cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:2
Paul Wilbur: ‘The Watchman’
Paul Wilbur says The Watchman is a destiny Word from the Lord that he walked into. He had just finished recording three well received albums, and he was wondering where the direction for his next album was going to be. Paul felt like God was telling him to be faithful, and the fruit is Paul’s current album, The Watchman.…The spirit of the watchman is explained by Paul as someone who “seems to see and hear from God, in what seems to be darkness, what others don’t see and hear.” They are preparing the way of the Lord.
God is raising up watchmen prophets in churches, governments, cities, etc. God is raising up those in the prophetic ministry. Worship and intercession will be more prophetic as well so that people will see in the spirit what God is doing and wants to do.
God is preparing to release a flood, and we must learn to walk in this. The church needs to proclaim what is to come. We need to be a voice in government, which can change the course of nations. It’s time for the believer to stand up and declare that Jehovah God is Lord over heaven and earth. Paul says a wave of the Spirit will hit (it is the hour of the watchman). The prophetic word will hit, and the hour is late. Some people will take this word as rebuke, correction, or encouragement.
Restoring the Watch of the Lord by James W. Goll October 21, 2009 Elijah List
“I will restore the ancient tools of the Watch of the Lord that have been used and will be used again to change the expression of Christianity across the face of the earth.”June, 1991
This prophetic word came to me in the middle of the night on the Kansas plains. I had brought 30 people with me to that remote area for a prayer retreat at a country lodge. We were praying around the clock in prayer teams for “hour watches” or prayer periods, modeled after military sentry patterns. Our focus was not on fellowship or even a prayer list; we were there to seek God’s face. As usual, I had chosen the 2:00-to-3:00 a.m. time slot because the Lord had been waking me up at that time virtually two or three times a week for more than a decade.
As I waited on the Lord, I suddenly saw a picture of an old farm implement, the kind of plow that used to be drawn by horses. When I asked the Lord what it was, the Holy Spirit said, “These are the ancient tools.” When I asked what these were, the response was immediate: “The Watch of the Lord is the ancient tool.” Now that phrase went deep inside of me and stuck. As I continued to wait before the Lord in that quiet, far-removed place, I saw the tool again and the Lord said, “I will restore the ancient tool of the Watch of the Lord. It has been used and will be used again to change the expression of Christianity across the face of the earth.”
I was already familiar with the concept of “watching in prayer” in the Old and the New Testaments (sorry to say, it is sorely missing from the life of the Church at large). This clear word of the Lord given under the starry skies of Kansas lit a fire under me that ultimately propelled me into the borderland of ancient Saxony, the ancient site of the Moravian prayer watch at Herrnhut that lasted over 100 years non stop.
Few English-speaking people use the term, “Watch of the Lord,” in our day. Books on prayer seldom discuss it. Yet the importance of the Watch of the Lord, or of watching in prayer, is very important to the plans and order of God. Jesus commanded us to “watch” with Him in several gospel accounts, particularly in the time called “the last days.”
Much has been taught about “the last days” by teachers in Evangelical and Charismatic circles. But exceptionally little has been taught about the biblical response of God’s people to the last days. I made a comparative study of the verbs Jesus used in Matthew 24, Mark 13, and Luke 21, where He described how we should respond when we see earthquakes, famines, wars and rumors of wars, and so on. Here is a summary of these responses:
See Matthew 24:“Watch out that no one deceive you” (vS 4).“See to it that you are not alarmed” (vS 6).“Stand firm to the end” (vS 13). “Keep watch” (vS 42).
See Mark 13: “Watch out that no one deceives you” (vs 5).“Do not be alarmed” (vs 7).“Be on your guard” (vs 9). “Do not worry” (vs 11). “Stand firm” (vs 13). “Be on your guard” (vs 23). “Be on your guard. Be alert” (vs 33). “Keep watch” (vs 35). “Watch out” (vs 37).
See Luke 21: “Watch out that you are not deceived” (vs 8). “Do not be frightened” (vs 9). “Stand firm” (vs 19). “Stand up and lift up your heads” (vs 28). “Be careful” (vs 34). “Be always on the watch and pray” (vs 36).
All of these statements can be summarized in three main phrases: “Do not be afraid” (4 times), “Stand firm” (4 times), and “Watch.” Jesus used this key word, “watch,” 11 times—almost three times more than any other admonition! Once again, you can hear His voice saying to the Church, “The key I give you is `watch.’ ” In Matthew 18:19-20, He gave us the keys of the kingdom, and they have to do with prayer: Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven. For where two or three have gathered together in My name, there I am in their midst (Matthew 18:19-20). Jesus wants groups of two or three people to gather in His name and ask in symphony or harmony.
The Greek word for “watch” in these verses is gregoreuo, and it means “to be vigilant, wake, to be watchful.” A watchman on the wall does many things. He carefully watches what is happening and alerts the community when good ambassadors approach the city. The guardsman then will open the gates and lower the bridge so the ambassadors may enter. A watchman also warns the city far in advance when an enemy approaches. He sounds an alarm to awaken the people because he knows “to forewarn them is to alert and arm them.” Then they quickly can rally to take their stand on the wall against the enemy before he wrongfully tries to enter into the city.
Putting Out the Welcome Mat
We are to watch for the good things and good messengers God sends to His people. We are to watch for the gifted ones and the coming of the Lord’s Presence. We are to alert the people to roll out the welcome mat, saying, “Come, come, come, come! Angels of healing, you are welcome here. Spirit of the Lord, You are welcome here. Gifts of the Spirit, you are welcome here. Spirit of conviction of sin, righteousness, and judgment come; you are welcome here. Come, come, come, come!” We are to roll out the red carpet to the name and the blood of Jesus, and say, “Come!”
We are to watch to see what the Lord is saying and doing. And we are to look at what the enemy’s plans could be. Paul warned us not to be ignorant concerning the devil’s schemes (see 2 Cor. 2:11). God wants to tip us off beforehand to cut off, postpone, delay, or even entirely dismantle the works of the enemy and frustrate his plans for evil.
But as watchers on the wall of the Lord, we go far beyond any dictionary definition. God wants us to look into the mirror of His great Word and discern those things that He has said that He wants to do. Then we are to remind Him of those things that He wants to do and is, at the same time, waiting for us to ask Him to do. Why? Because He has given us that little key called the “prayer of agreement.”
Little keys unlock big doors. The Moravians discovered a key of power in Leviticus 6:13, where the Lord says, “Fire shall be kept burning continually on the altar; it is not to go out.” They believed the New Covenant fire on the altar was prayer, and they acted on God’s challenge. The Moravians actually managed to change the world with that little key and so can we in out day.
Through other extreme God encounters, I became convinced that the Lord was releasing grace for the house of prayer for all nations, and for the Watch of the Lord to be released first in 120 cities across the earth, and from there to 3,000 cities according to the pattern of Pentecost as found in Acts the second chapter. Yes, the ancient tool of the Watch of the Lord has been released anew on the earth by the winds of God.
Dear God, I want to be vigilant and awake in this hour. Wake me up if you have to! I want to be a practical part of the watch of the Lord for my city. Equip me and use me as one of your Last Day Watchers. Place me in your global prayer army and send mentors my way so I can be effective in this historic move of God! Bless you Lord for including me in Your growing prayer army! Praise the Lord!
Now Just Do It! Amen and Amen! Blessings!

The Role of a Watchman
What Does It Mean for You?
God said to the prophet Ezekiel, “Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; therefore hear a word from My mouth, and give them warning from Me. Ezekiel 3:17.
Here is one of the most intriguing metaphors used by God in all of prophecy. It is repeated in chapter 33 for emphasis, and sets the stage for the prophet’s ministry to the divided houses of Judah and Israel.
Just what was the role of a watchman to an ancient city? How does God use the role of a watchman to warn and teach? What does it mean for the work of God today as this world comes to a prophetic crossroads?
It’s vital you understand the answer to these questions as events grow increasingly tense in a rapidly changing world order.
A key figure
In the ancient world of agrarian societies, large watchtowers were placed overlooking the fields. There, in the weeks the crops were ripening toward harvest, men would stand watch, guarding the fields from animals or from thieves who would make off with the crops. With the community’s basic food stores at stake, the watchman’s role was critical to the townspeople.
We also find several references in Scripture to a watcher mounting the city walls in times of stress to survey the scene outside the fortifications. He was situated on a spot from which he could monitor the approaches to the town. If a threat appeared, he would sound a warning and the town would shut its gates and prepare for battle.
You can also imagine the watcher standing vigil at other times, observing the daily life of the city. He could see much of the activity in the streets and markets. He knew the people, their work, their habits and their lifestyles. If his position was near the city gate, he could also observe the business of the city transacted by its officials. Ruth 4:1-12
No wonder God uses this role to illustrate the job of the prophets He sent to comment on society’s behavior, as well as to deliver messages of warning and instruction.
Prophets set as watchmen
Focusing on the Old Testament prophets helps us understand the full meaning of the symbolism of a watchman. There may be more than you have noticed before.
We noted at the outset Ezekiel 3:17, where God told the prophet to warn Israel of its sins and His impending punishment, saying, “Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; therefore hear a word from My mouth, and give them warning from Me.”
Notice it is God’s message, not Ezekiel’s message or any other prophet’s message. It is always God’s message delivered through the human instrument. The warning comes from God in language phrased to fit the situation and designed to bring people to repentance. Let’s keep this point firmly in mind.
Continuing: “When I say to the wicked, ‘You shall surely die,’ and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life, that same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand. Yet, if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered your soul” Ez 3:18, 19
The prophet had the duty to deliver the sobering message: Unless the citizens of Israel and Judah acknowledged their sins, turned from them, repented and began again to obey God’s law, they would die in their sins. Regardless of how individuals responded to the warning, if they heard the message, the prophet had done his job and was no longer responsible. Only if the prophet did not deliver the admonition would he be judged along with the wicked.
Ezekiel 3:20-21 explain another aspect. If a righteous person turned to sin, he would suffer the penalty, but the prophet would also be held liable for not giving him instruction. If the prophet gave adequate warning, instruction and positive teaching, the righteous could understand the consequences of turning from the right path. This could help motivate him to stay firm to the faith, a choice that would vindicate the prophet’s work.
You get the sense here that a part of the prophet’s message was showing the people how to live and maintain their faith. It was not just a strident message focused only on pointing out their problems. If the goal is to get people to turn back to the Word of God, then the message must also show the benefits of doing so. It must show the positive, better way of life God desires His people to live.
What will the watchman say?
Let’s look closer at what a watchman is to do by bringing in what Isaiah tells us about those who would preach the gospel of peace.
The role of a watchman is not limited to speaking only about the sins and problems of the society. The watchman was also charged with proclaiming good news about salvation.
Notice this in Isaiah: “How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who proclaims peace, who brings glad tidings of good things, who proclaims salvation, who says to Zion, ‘Your God reigns!’ Your watchmen shall lift up their voices, with their voices they shall sing together; for they shall see eye to eye when the Lord brings back Zion.
“Break forth into joy, sing together, you waste places of Jerusalem! For the Lord has comforted His people, He has redeemed Jerusalem. The Lord has made bare His holy arm in the eyes of all the nations; and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God”. Isaiah 52:7-10
To Jerusalem and the land of Israel God says the watchmen will hold a vigil day and night for the peace of the people. “I have set watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; they shall never hold their peace day or night. You who make mention of the Lord, do not keep silent, and give Him no rest till He establishes and till He makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth.
“The Lord has sworn by His right hand and by the arm of His strength: ‘Surely I will no longer give your grain as food for your enemies; and the sons of the foreigner shall not drink your new wine, for which you have labored. But those who have gathered it shall eat it, and praise the Lord; those who have brought it together shall drink it in My holy courts.’
“Go through, go through the gates! Prepare the way for the people; build up, build up the highway! Take out the stones, lift up a banner for the peoples! Indeed the Lord has proclaimed to the end of the world: ‘Say to the daughter of Zion, “Surely your salvation is coming; behold, His reward is with Him, and His work before Him” ’”Isaiah 62:6-11
Here we see the watchman role given to a group of people charged with a prayer vigil for the well-being of Israel. These people, by their presence and their prayers, seek to keep the city from suffering the ravaging effects of evil.
These passages in Isaiah paint an image of godly people who are given unique vision into the world of today and the world to come. They understand the universal application of the gospel of the Kingdom of God. They see that God will bring that Kingdom to earth and will offer salvation not just to Israel, but also to all nations. They see the reuniting of the tribes of Israel in the Promised Land as the beginning of the times of restoration of all things spoken of by Peter in Acts 3.
But they also have insight into the world at the end of this age. They see the dark gathering clouds on the world’s horizon that spell the end of Satan’s reign as the god of this world and author of all its evil. This leads them to mount the “walls” of society and shout a warning to any who will hear. To say: “God is sovereign. He will bring a time of judgment on the world to prove that He alone is God. All other gods erected by people to hide His truth will be destroyed.”
This message includes teaching that will show any who listen the way to personal peace. It will show the true teaching of God and the way to salvation.
